Brrrr....Winter is here!

January 27th Fishing Report: Winter has officially showed up here in West Michigan. Temps the last 2 weeks have been in the teen's and single digits. The lower Pere Marquette River is frozen over now which means no fishing until it opens back up. The Big Manistee River is still open from Tippy Dam down to High Bridge.

Fishing was very good before the temp dropped. Lots of fresh fish mixed in with beautiful colored up winter holdover fish. Big juicy spawn bags were taking most of the fish along with 10mm beads in yellow and dead egg colors. During these cold temps look for the dead/slow pools and seams along runs. Work the holes hard as these fish are more lethargic. They won't move very far to grab a bait so make sure you cover every inch.

Once we get a thaw the fishing should be on fire! Lots of hungry fish with no boat traffic. Spring is right around the corner which means those spring spawners will be shooting up the river soon enough. Prime dates fill fast so book that trip today and don't miss out on an amazing adventure chasing steelhead on the beautiful PM River. 231-239-0871.
